University.

Thore appears now to be no real reason for a joint statement in London and in Hong Kong since report will probably not be published, and since K.M. Government funds have not been promised for reconstruction and development of the Univeraity.

2. Council and Court fr corrupt quoup) University have now been #÷gazetted) and Provisional Powers Committee has therefore ceased to be operative, Court meeting is

essential to appoint Treasurer to drew amounts on the bank for ordinary maintenance of the University. Council hac nominated Morac de Treasurer and a Court meeting is necessary to appoint him. Morse good on leave in ono week and, 12 he is not duly appointed as Treasurer, no other person can be appointed to officiate in his absence. Additionally, it is essential that Court should pess accounts of the University before the budget for Financial year 1st July, 1948. to 30th June, 1949 can be passed. Meeting of the Court to deal with these points is therefore being held immediately.

32 I have learnt that a resolution is going to ba moved at thin neoting asking me to hold special meetings of the Court to state policy regarding University, resolution is certain to be passed unanimously, Unless you have any objection ( and I cen see no reason for objection in view of

I propose to hold an early meeting when I would outline programme of rehabilitation of the University at the cost of the Hong Kong finances and te (4 & group omitted) main proposals of development made by the 8. of 8. It emdited) Committee in 1946.
